ELK GROVE – Elk Grove City Councilwoman Stephanie Nguyen’s campaign for
State Assembly released the following statement in response to the Sacramento County
Registrar of Voters final Primary Election results:
“I am extremely excited that our campaign to build a Sacramento region for all was
successful in securing the top spot in the Primary Election. While we are happy at the
results, this race is far from over, but our campaign is strong and has the momentum and
support needed to win in November.
Special interest groups spent over $1 million dollars to defeat our campaign and to push
us out of the top two, but they failed, and we came in first place. They failed because
voters recognize that I’ve spent my entire life uplifting our community. As the
Executive Director of Asian Resources, I’ve worked to ensure that all communities,
especially low-income and immigrant families have access to support services. As an
Elk Grove City Councilmember, I’ve prioritized combatting homelessness and crime;
successfully securing $5 million in funding for homelessness and providing renter
assistance to families to keep people in their homes.
My service to our community is why our campaign has amassed an enormous amount
of community-based support and is why we will be successful at building a Sacramento
region for all.”
